What are piercings made of?

Piercings/ huggies are a popular way to change your appearance and show who you are. But what are piercings actually made of?

There are several materials that can be used to make piercings. The most popular materials are steel, titanium and silver. Steel is a common material for piercings because it is strong, durable and inexpensive. However, it is important to know that some types of steel must be nickel-free, because some people are allergic to nickel. Titanium is another popular material for piercings. It is lightweight, hypoallergenic and very strong. It is also more expensive than steel. Silver is also a popular choice for piercings, mainly because it has a nice shine and an elegant look.

What material are Eline Rosina's piercings and huggies made of?

At Eline Rosina we sell 14k solid gold piercings and huggies. This makes our piercings and huggies real investment pieces. In addition, to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, we work with recycled 14k solid gold . Where this is not (yet) possible, we use gold that has been mined responsibly and certified in accordance with the conditions of, among others, the responsible jewelry council (RJC). Because we work with real solid gold, it means that the piercings will not oxidize or discolor, so you can wear the piercing anywhere and anytime. Yes, even in the shower or while sleeping! To find out more about the materials we use for our jewelry, take a look at our 'materials & care' page. Gold piercings are a popular choice for some people because they have a nice shine and an elegant look. Curious about our latest investment pieces? How to clean and care for 14k gold piercings?

To keep the shine of your 14k piercings and huggies, it's important to give your piercing some love every once in a while. You can clean your gold jewelry by placing it in a bowl of sparkling water and a few drops of dish soap. This loosens the dirt within a few minutes. Rinse your piercing under the tap and gently pat dry. And so your piercing shines like new again!

You can always send us a DM or an email if you have any questions about your 14k huggie or piercings. Also take a look at our Materials & Care page for more information.
