Celebrating the bold with Esmee Trouw

Celebrating the bold with Esmee Trouw

Alongside her work in fashion and photography, Esmee has fully embraced her passion: kickboxing. Discipline, perseverance, and creativity: Esmee combines it all. In the ring, on the tatami, and behind the camera, she proves that being bold doesn't always mean being tough—it's about staying true to yourself, with discipline and focus.

What does "being bold" mean to you personally?
For me, being bold means daring to choose what feels right, even if it doesn't make sense to others. Not shouting louder, but staying soft in a world so harsh.

When do you feel most powerful?
When I'm fully focused in the ring or on the tatami mat. At that moment, it's just me, my body, and my mental game. Or when I'm on set and an idea comes to life exactly as I envisioned it.

How do you stay true to yourself in a world full of expectations?
I always trust my gut. It's my compass.

What made you decide: I'm going all-in on kickboxing and really want to excel at it?
I wanted to challenge myself to train to my maximum potential. To see what happens when you give it your all. With discipline, perseverance, and focus, you can go further than you ever imagined.

What have you learned about yourself through the process of training, losing, winning—and then moving on?
Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. I don't believe in losing—only in lessons. Discipline, repetition, and focus are the keys. Once you master those, you can achieve anything you want.

How do you combine the intensity of top-level sports with your creative work in fashion and photography?
Discipline is the common thread. I want to excel in everything I do. I work hard, don't do things halfway, and don't let standard hours limit me. I always strive for my maximum potential—whether that's in the ring or at work.

Were there times when you doubted yourself—and how did you keep going?
Absolutely. But for me, doubt is just a stopgap, not a destination. I literally move then: an extra workout, a good chat with my coach, a walk, music on—and then I'm back on track.

You've already won a few competitions, including a gold medal! What does success mean to you personally? And how do you celebrate when you've achieved something?
I dwell on it briefly, but I'm often already working on the next goal. That keeps me focused. When I celebrate, it's small and genuine. With myself and the people who genuinely support me.

What advice would you give to women who dream of more but are unsure?
You don't have to be certain of everything. Just start. Doubt doesn't mean you can't do it; it means it's worth it to you. With discipline and focus, you can handle anything.

Finally: What's your favorite piece of Eline Rosina jewelry?
A small, elegant hoop—minimalist yet powerful. I love subtle details that add just that little something extra.
